All Things Winter

March has been a month to squeeze in all sorts of winter activities. From snowmobiling to skiing we did it all and it was so much fun. Here are some photos documenting our past 3 weekends.

Week 1: Skiing with my siblings

We had so much fun skiing with Andrew, Alisha, and Katrina. It's becoming an annual tradition and hopefully we can do it again next year. It was a bit stormy so I couldn't get any good skiing pictures, but here are some of the pre-skiing photos.

Week 2: Sleigh ride & Dinner for Two plus Snowmobiling

We won tickets for a "romantic" sleigh ride and dinner for two as well as a snowmobiling tour so we took the opportunity to spend the weekend in Park City. We loved getting away from home for a couple days to play. It was an awesome get-a-way.

Week 3: Skiing with Blake & Nellie

The season is about over, but we got a chance to spend the weekend with these two. Oh how we miss spending time with them! It was fun catching up and relaxing up in Park City. Hopefully we can do it again next year.

...and just for fun here are some videos from our last trip. The guys definitely had fun in the park with their tricks.

The Current State of Things

Just a quick note as I'm finishing up my daily computer fix. I was thinking about it today about how I spend 8 straight hours at work staring at a computer only to come home and spend several more hours doing the exact same thing. If only the days were longer and I didn't need my sleep. Then I might actually get to some of my projects like quilting and scrapbooking and who would think - cleaning my house. Oh how life is so busy when you're husband is in school, you're working full-time, and you have the outlook of medical school ahead of you.

Oh well. It's part of the adventure, right? I can't wait.

Happy Birthday to Me

Thanks to everyone who made my birthday special this week. It was so nice getting together with my family to celebrate over the weekend and Brennan treated me so special on the actual day. Thanks to my sisters for reminding me that I am now one year closer to being a quarter century old...I love you too.

It has been an extra special treat having my mom and dad in town as well. My mom hasn't even left yet, but when will you (Mom) be coming back? March? (probably too soon) How about April?

Isn't this so adorable! My sister made a Valentine Pocket for everyone filled with a meringue ice cream cone as well. We celebrated my birthday in conjunction with Valentine's Day so we were loaded with candies, chocolates, and sweets. What more can you ask for?

High Hopes, Low Expectations

Well don't get your expectations set too high. I realize it's a new year so I probably should have a greater resolve to improve my blogging presence, but there are no promises. I will try, however, to at least post something on here once a month. That will be an improvement from my poor behavior last year.

So in recap of this past month (and a little bit of December) let me fill you in on what we've been up to. I don't have pictures on my computer yet so I'll give you a brief outline.

December:
  • Christmas week split between the Rigbys and the Petersons - It was a blast!
  • New Years week skiing at Grand Targhee, Wyoming with the Rigbys and 40 inches of new snow.
January:
  • School started! Brennan's Line-up - Physics II, Genetics, Cell Bio, and Bowling
  • Skiing.... of course :)
  • Tammy's Wedding - Ok this one hasn't happened yet, but I'm excited to spend next weekend in San Diego celebrating the big day!!
Upcoming events for next month include family visits and my birthday :) Love you all and hopefully I'll have more to blog about soon.

Summer 2009

OK! It's finally time to catch-up on summer. Where we've been, what we've done, and a peek into what we're currently up to. Since this posting is going to be packed with photos, I'll treat this more as a picture book than a story for the sake of mine and your time.

June:
Strawberry Day's Rodeo with the Butterworths, sisters, and AMAZING strawberries and cream. YUM!
Real Salt Lake game with the Rigbys.

July:

Peterson/Ott family reunion in McCall, Idaho. If only I had more photos of what we actually did. Family - I'll need your photos, pretty please :) Between river rafting, boating, jet-skiing, wake-boarding, wake-surfing, tanning... I think we were able to fit it all in.

It was an awesome trip though and here's the rapid where we almost drowned. Seriously. Then it was off to Maui, Hawaii with the Rigbys. Here are just of few highlights.

Lots of yummy family dinners after a hard days work playing on the beach, snorkeling, etc.
Brennan's Birthday Present - Helicopter Rides for ALL!!!
Our 1 Year Anniversary! We celebrated with a delicious breakfast date and then a 5 hour flight home. We've had so much fun this past year and life has been so wonderful.

August:

Annual DNA Golf Tournament in PC. I got to try out my new clubs and they were fabulous.

Our last day date before school started again. We explored Union Station in Ogden. It was fun walking through the museums and seeing all the trains.
Brennan's first day of school and the beginning of a very busy year preparing for medical school applications.
September - Now:

And for the final wrap-up, school is now currently in full swing. Between school, research, volunteer, physician shadowing, patient care experience, work, MCAT prep and everything else, Brennan is very busy (and therefore me too). It's going to be a fun and challenging year, but we're exciting to tackle it and enjoy the ride.

We've still been able to fit in some fun activities though so that helps keep us sane - like the Greek Festival downtown for example. That was really fun and it reminded Brennan of Armenia. We're also getting really excited for ski season. Only 1.5 months left and Park City opens. It'll be cold, but well worth it. We can't wait.

May in Review

May definitely came and went for us at a surprising rate. Brennan finished his first year at the U and we're already looking forward to a summer of vacations, weekend trips, spring cleaning, and no more homework at least for 3 months.

We were so grateful and were counting down the days until our first weekend get-a-way over Memorial Day weekend. Here are some pictures and highlights of our escapades.

1. Once we landed in San Diego we went straight from the airport to the Padres game. I didn't realize Brennan hadn't been to a Major League Baseball game before so I'm glad I got to take him to our home-town heroes - the Padres. We had so much fun with our small group there and loved just being at Petco Park.

2. Then Saturday was nothing but all wedding. We were so glad to be able to celebrate with Jon and Nicole at their wedding. The ceremony was beautiful as anticipated and we took a couple photos at the temple before the day carried on. Here are a few:

Brennan and me outside the temple. I don't think we'd been back to the San Diego temple since our own wedding. I loved the spring flowers they had out. It was such a beautiful day.

Of course I had to get a picture of all the studs. We're slowly marrying them off. 2 down, 1 on the way, and one more to go.
Alisha decided to take a quick trip down to San Diego too and met us at the temple for pictures.

Then there was a luncheon, a quick one hour stop at the beach for some boogy boarding and then we were back at the reception. There was yummy food, dancing and the usual wedding stuff.

Jon was so thrilled when he saw what we had done to his car, but we did have parental permission. I think we did a pretty good job. Good luck Space Jon!!!
P.S. sorry for saran wrapping you in, but we couldn't have passed on such a great opportunity. You'll laugh about it later :)
Then the wedding festivities were done and we were off to enjoying the rest of our weekend away.

The next day we took a trip up to LA to do the traditional memorial day tasks of visiting ancestors. I was glad we got to squeeze in a stop at the local Armenian Independence Day festival too. It was fun hearing Brennan speak Armenian and we got to try some yummy kobobs, Armenian ice cream, and pastries.

There's not much more to say than that May was an exciting and quick month. We even happened to squeeze in an end of the month BBQ at our house, but unfortunately I didn't take any pictures. It was so much fun having all the Rigbys over for dinner and lawn games. We'll have to do it again soon and I promise to take pictures that time.
