Summer Wrap Up

I finally transferred pictures from the camera. Now I have a lot more to work with and lots of fun photos to wrap up our summer. So....let's begin the summer in review.

Heather is already 3 months old. She's getting so big as you can tell by her monthly shots in her car seat.

We've had some great trips this summer. In June we made it up to Park City for a day out of the house and some mountain biking for Brennan.

In July my sister Alisha got married so we were off to San Diego. 

My mom made this adorable flower girl dress for Heather. It's beautiful.

Heather's first trip to the beach was a success!

We spent a day in LA at the Culver City Obon Festival. It's such a fun tradition celebrating our Japanese heritage with my grandma. Heather even has a baby cotton yucata. It's super cute, but it was a little cold so she was wrapped up. I can't wait until next year when she'll be dancing with me in her adorable outfit.

In August we celebrated Katrina's birthday boating at Deer Creek Reservoir. It was Heather's first 2-night camping trip and she was a trooper.

We've also had lots of time to just play and relax at home as well.

While my sister was in town we put together our very own photo shoot for Heather. My house might have been a disaster afterwards from all the rearranging of furniture (the photos are taken on our dining room table under the chandelier), but I sure am glad I have these pictures. They turned out beautiful. Thanks Alisha!!!

Heather's Baby Blessing

Thank you to all the family and friends that were able to join with us on August 12th to bless our sweet baby Heather. We are so grateful to Aunt Alisha for documenting the day and even putting together a special photo shoot.

They finally made it to the post office and hopefully to your home. If not then let me know and I'll send another. We can't believe she's almost a month old. I'll get more pictures from this past week posted soon.

Three Weeks Here We Come

I can't believe Heather is almost three weeks old. We are having so much fun together. Here are some highlights from our past week. Heather is really good at eating, sleeping, making faces, hiccuping, wiggling out of her socks and gloves, and being a complete sweetheart. We get up just once or twice together at night and I'm finally catching up on some sleep which is wonderful. She's already gained a bunch of weight and we went to her two week check-up yesterday. She's now 7 pounds 6 ounces and 21 1/4 inches long. She didn't care for getting her blood drawn and let out one little squeal and then just squirmed a bit until they were done. Luckily we have several weeks until her two month check-up and all the fun shots that come with that.

When it's been almost a year since the last blog post there's a lot to catch up on, but then again there's been a lot going on this past year that's been more distracting. Alisha graduated from BYU

Brennan got accepted to the University of Utah School of Medicine. We're so excited to be staying in Salt Lake for at least 4 more years.

Expecting our first child. Yep, this is where the blog gets so much more exciting. We shared our news with family around Thanksgiving time and I was due on May 26th. The past 9 months went by really fast and I'm so grateful I felt well the whole time and was able to work up until the week of my due date. I'm now enjoying my time at home with our baby girl and loving every moment.

Now.... introducing our daughter Heather Kim Rigby. For those interested in how she entered this world here's a quick summary. I spent 6 days after my due date walking and waiting. 9 months of pregnancy went by so much faster than that week, but my mom was in town and she and Brennan kept me entertained. Then at 2am on the 1st my water broke so we were off to the hospital. We got to an L&D room a little after 3 and she was born a short hour and seven minutes later. It was definitely faster than I ever anticipated. I was interested in delivering without anesthesia, but didn't weigh out the possibility of an epidural so I took a few hypnobirthing classes to prepare. I'm really glad I did, because when it came time there was no anesthesiologist available so the relaxation and breathing techniques got me through the experience which was amazing and memorable. In the end, we're so grateful she's here and that she's healthy and perfect - all 7 pounds 2 ounces and 20.5 inches of her.

Our first week at home. My parents came to visit and my mom cooked the entire week so that we would have almost a month stock-pile of freezer meals. Thanks mom!

We're now getting into a routine and loving being parents. Check back occasionally for more updates. Now that there's someone else to blog about besides myself I think I might be better at all these posts.
